Shaykul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah may Allah عز وجل have mercy on him said: 
لا عيب على من أظهر مذهب السلف وانتسب إليه، واعتزى إليه؛ بل يجب قبول ذلك منه بالاتفاق؛ فإن مذهب السلف لا يكون إلا حقّاً
There should not be any blame upon the one who expressed the Madhab of the Salaf and affiliated himself to it. Rather it is obligatory to accept that from him by consensus because the Madhab of the Salaf cannot be anything except the truth. [Majmoo al Fatawa 4/149]
