وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته 
He saw the sun as if it is setting in a spring of black muddy (or hot) water because of its reflection on the the ocean. And everyone in that position would witness it like that only and it would be a beautiful and amazing view. And Allah عز وجل knows best.
