Being appreciative for the knowledge that one has been taught

When you see an unappreciative Salafi for the knowledge that has been given to him and for those who teach it to him it is a sign that he didn't learn the Manhaj of the Salaf properly and has not  been brought up under the correct Tarbiah.

Placing the Mushaf in a lower place 

وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته

Yes , you should not . Because it is a kind of insult to the Noble Mushaf , and Allah عز وجل has said { ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَۖ وَمَن یُعَظِّمۡ شَعَـٰۤىِٕرَ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِن تَقۡوَى ٱلۡقُلُوبِ }  ( And whosoever honours the Symbols of Allah, then it is truly from the piety of the heart. ) . Therefore , place the Mushaf in a higher place so that your feet cannot reach it . And Allah عز وجل   knows best .
