Principle regarding using the names of Allah عز وجل for the creations

وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته

The answer is you must know that the names of Allah عز وجل are of two types. The first type are those names which are exclusive only for Allah عز وجل and no one can else can use them because the meaning of these names cannot be for the creations like the name Ar Razzaq which means The Provider and Al Muhyi which means The One who gives life and Al Mumeet which means The One who causes death . So if someone keeps these types of names for himself whilst he knows their meanings , then he is a Kafir and if somebody gives these names to other creations whilst knowing their meanings , then he is a Mushrik .

The second type are those names which can be for the creations as well . Like the name Al Qawii which means the Powerful One and the name Ar Raheem which means the Merciful One etc. Also , one must understand that when we say these names can be for the creations as well , there is a difference in the exact meanings . For example , when we say Allah is Ar Raheem and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم  is also Raheem as how Allah عز وجل described him in the Quran  , you must know and believe that the mercy of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is not like the mercy of Allah عز وجل .  Likewise when we say a person is Qawii ( powerful ) then it is not the same as the power of Allah عز وجل . Rather there is a difference between the attributes of Allah عز وجل and the attributes of the creations like Allah عز وجل said :  ليس كمثله شيء وهو السميع البصير There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer. . 

And Allah عز وجل knows best .
