I have a proposal from one of the Salafi Shuyūkh from my country Nigeria. I’ve inquired about him and everything I could possibly ask for and more, the Shaykh has it - Dīn, firmness, Adab etc. I spoke to my parents about it but they are saying no simply because of the age difference. He already has three wives. I do not see this as a problem but they do which I am not sure why as both of their parents had more than one wife as well. I have tried to explain using the age gap between A’isha, Khadijah رضي الله عنهما and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم but still they are saying no. I understand that if Allāh عز وجل has written the brother for me it will work out. But what do you advise ?. They have turned down good proposals before as well and I’m the only Salafi in the family so the whole family don’t want to hear anything I have to say.
