وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته Ghusl for a woman after menstruation and before intercourse is obligatory . This is what the Qur’an indicates as Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه explained the verse وَیَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡمَحِیضِۖ قُلۡ هُوَ أَذࣰى فَٱعۡتَزِلُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَاۤءَ فِی ٱلۡمَحِیضِ وَلَا تَقۡرَبُوهُنَّ حَتَّىٰ یَطۡهُرۡنَۖ فَإِذَا تَطَهَّرۡنَ فَأۡتُوهُنَّ مِنۡ حَیۡثُ أَمَرَكُمُ الله They ask you concerning menstruation. Say: that is an Adha (a harmful thing for a husband to have a sexual intercourse with his wife while she is having her menses), therefore keep away from women during menses and go not unto them till they have purified (from menses and have taken a bath). And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah has ordained for you } [2: 222] So it is not permissible to have intercourse with a wife who has completed her period except after a complete Ghusl , and the complete Ghusl here means the type of bath that allows her to pray. And whoever does that must repent to Allah عز وجل and there is no dispute among the previous scholars regarding any of this.
