Question
There's a scenario that happens often in the recent years with sighting the crescent for the starting of Shawwal . The government of our country has appointed a Qadhi in charge of decisions pertaining to sighting the crescent. Now, when a person or two testifies that they have sighted the crescent , the Qadhi does not accept the testimony of those persons (due to some reasons which are unclear to us ) and people are asked to fast the following day . A particular sect here alone accept the testimony of those persons and don't fast the next day. This leads to a confusion among the population. As laymen should we fast the next day obeying the command of the person in charge or should we not fast since the crescent has been sighted ?
